Venue: The Waldorf Hotel, London
Date: Friday 18th November 2011
N.B. This event is now full due to high demand.
Providing tales of celebrity, tantalising tango teas and a history spanning over 100 years, the BWF is proud to present the host venue of our 2011 Annual Dinner & Awards: The Waldorf Hotel.

Introducing the Waldorf Hotel
Constructed in 1908 in the heart of the West End, and designed by Sir Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, the grandeur of the 190-foot granite sculptured frontage in magnificent French renaissance style will welcome BWF members to a night to remember.
An evening hosted in the hotel’s Palm Court, previous visitors include the cast of one the first Titanic movies, A Night to Remember, shot here in 1958 providing the backdrop of the doomed liner’s grand salon.
With a rich history of pushing the boundaries of acceptability, the Waldorf hosted the UK’s first Tango Teas on 1910 – considered too sordid for some – they were seen as a genteel way for debutantes to associate with young men in the middle of the afternoon, where pulses raced thanks to Argentina’s steamiest export.
Dinner & Awards
Beginning with a champagne reception in the balcony of the Palm Court to the subtle sounds of the resident pianist, members will indulge in the finest cuisine offered by the five-star hotel.
Our awards ceremony will follow, featuring the John Hedgecock Memorial Award, recognising technical excellence, achievement and innovation, while remembering a great man and his immense contribution to the joinery industry.
This prestigious event takes place on Friday 18th November 2011.
