Venue: The Building Centre, London
Date: Tuesday 11th October 2011

Wood for good is the UK's wood promotion campaign working on behalf of the whole timber industry in the UK. It aims to promote the suitability and sustainability of wood as a building material to the construction and logistics sectors and associated professionals such as architects and design engineers

Wood for Good is holding a Timber Industry Event on the morning of 11 October at the Building Centre in London. The event seeks to bring the industry and architects together to talk about the use of wood, and some of the impediments to its use in the supply chain.

This morning session will look at some of the issues affecting the increased use of wood in construction. Topics under discussion will range from the shortage of timber education in our universities, to an analysis of the barriers to specifying wood and a judges’ eye view of the exceptional quality of projects entered for the 2011 Wood Awards.

Chaired by Roddy Langmuir of Edward Cullinan Architects and with speakers from across the industry including:

Michael Morrison – Partner, Purcell Miller Tritton Architects & Chair of Judges, Wood Awards
Phil Clark – Digital & Audience Director, UBM Media
Richard Harris – Professor of Timber Engineering, University of Bath
Dr Andrew Pitman - Technical Manager, TRADA Technology
Andrew Wylie – Structural Engineer, Buro Happold
Ben Randall – Partner, Randall & Simmonds Chartered Quantity Surveyors
John White – CEO, Timber Trade Federation

We are hoping for good debate and some real knowledge transfer across the ends of the supply chain. You can download the agenda programme here. Please register direct on the Building Centre website if you are interested in attending. BWF members who attend the seminar will be able to make available (strictly) one company flyer or brochure.
