Last Friday, BWF hosted its first Part Q Webinar on mandatory security ratings for doors and windows. The new Part Q of the building regulations in England is a hot topic within the industry as it will introduce the requirement for security-rated doors and windows to be provided for new build homes. The changes, will take effect on 1st October for use in England.

BWF webinar on mandatory security ratings for doors and windows ‘really got to the nub of the issue’The lunchtime Part Q Webinar enabled the BWF’s technical director, Kevin Underwood, to go through the forthcoming changes and answer a wide range of question from members on how it would affect their businesses. For those of you who missed the event, BWF will be making the powerpoint presentation available soon to members and will also be circulating a Part Q factsheet, taking into account any FAQs.

BWF Chief Executive Iain McIlwee was pleased with the response from attendees:

“It is great to see members positively engaging in this type of communication and judging by the array of technical questions raised, the event really got to the nub of the issue. We look forward to putting on more of these webinars as a way of addressing and informing on industry hot topics, whether they relate to technical, Health & Safety or general business support issues.”

BWF offers a vast library of resources which are specifically tailored for the woodworking and joinery industry. As part of their subscription, BWF members can access to help them solve technical issues they have.

We have a dedicated technical helpline, allowing members to welcome our technical team in as an extension of their workforce, providing sound and expert advice to help them overcome difficulties in design, timber species, regulations, standards and much more.

Our expert technical team were drafted direct from industry, and draw on their many years of experience working within joinery firms, big and small, allowing our members access to their wealth of knowledge.

We would be grateful for any additional feedback from members who have attended the webinar. Please take one minute to complete this post-webinar survey to help us improve our service to members: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZGYQFQX
