The Welsh Government issued a consultation on the proposed incorporation of aspects of the Sustainable Building National Planning Policy into the Building Regulations in Wales.  This is a good opportunity for BWF to feed in its views on proposed Part Q requirements for joinery products and why sustainable materials should be rewarded.

In July 2014 the Sustainable Buildings national planning policy and related guidance provided in Technical Advice Note TAN22 were withdrawn with the stated intention of investigating the potential to incorporate the key non-energy elements of the Code for Sustainable Homes/BREEAM into the Welsh Building Regulations.  This consultation contains proposals for:

– Changes to Part G – Sanitation, Hot Water Safety and Water Efficiency
– The introduction of Part Q – Residential Security – Unauthorised access
– Non-mandatory guidance on the content and presentation of information to householders for new dwellings
Changes to the Approved Documents
.

Here you can find the consultation documents and method of response. Can BWF members send through any relevant comments through to BWF Technical Director Kevin Underwood kevin.underwood@bwf.org.uk, who will be preparing BWF’s response.

This consultation closes on 24 May 2016 so we request any information for use in our response is sent through as soon as possible.

All information related to Building Regulations is disseminated via our newsletter, at regional and technical working group meetings, at our Members Day and via webinars.  Specific information related to products is included in the Technical Woodworking Support section.
