Why is accreditation and certification important?
Accreditation means that every Scheme member’s stair design and manufacturing has been independently verified as complying with the relevant Building Regulations and product standards, whether by testing or through proof of experience of manufacture. Third party certification of the fire performance of a stair tests and verifies that it will resist the effects of the fire and maintain its integrity for the period required. It is the only sure way to prove that it is going to fulfil its rating.
Why is traceability important?
The Scheme has a series of badges to enable an accredited or certificated stair to be identified easily. The badges vary depending on the requirements of the stair. They show the level of accreditation, the manufacturer's name and a unique serial number. The label also provides traceability, ensuring the manufacturer can always be contacted if further information on the stair is required.
