The BWF Online Training Academy is the gateway to e-learning online training for the joinery and woodworking industry. Launched in February 2012, the Online Academy is currently available FREE to members of the BWF and/or WITForum. Non-members can access the Academy for specific modules for a small fee.
- Online training is more affordable than classroom or onsite training, with our first module offered FREE for BWF/WITForum Members
- Online courses can be taken in multiple sittings and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — to better accommodate your busy schedule.
- Online training is as mobile as you are! Your training can take place on the road, in the café, or any other place you have an internet-accessible computer.
What courses are currently available?
Wood Waste and Resource Efficiency
Our first e-learning module, as part of the February 2012 launch, is the Wood Waste and Resource Efficiency Module. It provides key knowledge required for joinery manufacturers to save resources and costs from effective procurement of timber through to the disposal of wood waste.
This module is also useful for timber suppliers to understand the issues around procurement and wood waste disposal and how you can play a role.

Modules Produced by BWF Members
In addition to the BWF's purpose-made e-learning modules, BWF members have produced their own modules aimed at specifiers to understand joinery products. Current modules include:
- Joinery Manufacture in the UK (produced by Premdor)
- Stairs (produced by JELD-WEN)
- Doors (produced by JELD-WEN)
- Windows (produced by JELD-WEN)
These are complimentary modules available for those that are subscribed any of the BWF's e-learning modules.
Are there more Modules Planned?
Yes. Over the coming months we will begin development of online training modules for 'An Introduction to Fire Doors", in partnership with the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door and Doorset Scheme, and a Joinery Estimating module, and further research is being conducted to meet the needs of industry.
