Be Part of the New Model of Apprenticeships for Carpentry and Joinery

As you may be aware, Apprenticeship frameworks are changing to new Apprenticeship standards, which include a final assessment at the end (End Point Assessment) to test an apprentice’s competency in their role. NOCN are approved to deliver End Point Assessment for 43 of the new apprenticeship standards in various sectors including Construction, Engineering and Manufacturing. This is larger than any other organisation.

The Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship standard, which was led by BWF, was approved to be delivered in February 2018, so you may have not have heard about this change. NOCN have been approached by numerous Training Providers who have asked us to apply to deliver the End Point Assessment for the two Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship Standard at level 2 and 3. This is because, since the merger with Cskills Awards last year, we are seen as the go to organisation for construction qualifications and assessments. We have been briefed by BWF on what they want from an Assessment.

To apply to deliver the End Point Assessment, NOCN_Cskills Awards have to provide letters of support from employers in the sector and we are also interested in working with employers to inform the development of the Assessment to ensure it meets the employer’s needs.

​BWF has been working with members of our WIT Forum to develop three Apprenticeship Standards, following the successful introduction of the above qualification, we now have the standard for Wood Machine Operative approved and are finalising the details of introduction with the Institute for Apprenticeships, we are also working on a Heritage qualification of which more details will be available later in the year.
