Blairs Join The Performance Timber Products Group

The Performance Timber Products Group (PTPG) has reached an agreement with Joint Receivers Fiona Taylor and Colin Dempster of Ernst & Young LLP to buy the assets and trade of Blairs Limited of Greenock.  The Company will continue to trade as Blairs and will re-establish its manufacturing facility in Greenock.

The PTPG adds this quality brand to an impressive and growing list of market leading companies that includes Mumford & Wood Limited, TimberWindows.com, Dale Windows, John Porter Doors Limited and Iconic Internal Doors. Following the announcement, Roy Wakeman, Chief Executive Officer of the PTPG, who was previously CEO of the largest bespoke door manufacturer in the UK, Leaderflush Shapland Group, said: "I am delighted to bring Blairs into the Group as it is a business with a long and proud heritage of supplying the fenestration market with high performance products.  We look forward to working with the new staff base at Blairs, its customers and suppliers, and feel confident we will share a bright future."

John Torley, the appointed Managing Director of Blairs, has the immediate task of creating 60 positions in order that the business re-commences trading before the end of January 2011.  Commenting on the acquisition, he said: "Following the events earlier this month, this is wonderful news for Blairs and the community of Greenock.  With the backing of the PTPG we can rebuild a strong business to serve both new and existing customers, and hope for our employees."

Blairs was founded in 1908 as a general construction company and for the last 40 years has worked throughout the UK meeting the demand for high quality bespoke timber windows and doors backed with a high service support strategy.  The Company went into receivership on 6 January 2011 and the majority of the workforce was made redundant.
