FDIS Diploma Secures 50 Students In Just Two WeeksIt’s just two weeks since we announced the launch of a brand new qualification in fire doors, and already 50 people are working their way through the series of modules, which after sitting their examination, will result in them achieving a Diploma qualification.

The FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme) education programme is a series of online education modules which you can study in your own time and wherever it's most convenient for you. The FDIS Diploma examination is then taken at a local centre.

As a Diploma holder you can proudly demonstrate that your knowledge of fire doors is to a defined industry standard – you are an acknowledged professional in your field.

The education programme has been researched and authored by industry experts in their specific fields and leading members of the BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme and GAI – the two leading authorities on fire doors and their components.

The Diploma qualification (DipFD) is of great benefit to those wishing to progress to become certificated Fire Door Inspectors, which will be stage two of the scheme. But it also acts as a stand-alone qualification for those individuals and companies who wish to demonstrate their professional knowledge of fire doors and their components, from manufacture through to installation and maintenance.

BWF and BWF-CERTIFIRE Member Company Manchester Panel Products have registered a number of staff on the Diploma, saying "modules are well thought out and easy to follow, with the additional benefit of audio sound commentary which can be listened to along with the text in each paragraph…the scheme is good and broadens your expertise and knowledge, and hopefully will give us 10 passes for the people we have registered!"

Fire doors remains under the spotlight, especially since the introduction of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Huge penalties and fines have been issued to building owners and managers who have tried to cut corners by not installing or even maintaining fire doors correctly, often disregarding advice from manufacturers and suppliers. We hope our education programme will help all those responsible for fire doors, from manufacture to end use, to be aware of the dangers of placing properties and lives at risk and show that they know what they are talking about if challenged.

Any member wishing to enroll on the Diploma course may do so at www.FDIS.co.uk

To register at the BWF member rate, you will need to have your membership number to hand.
