Our yearly Members’ Day gives the BWF a great opportunity to brief you on the latest technical issues and get you involved in the debate on these issues. This year should be no exception!
In session one there is an opportunity to attend a workshop concerning the Green Deal, the Government’s initiative to fund energy efficiency improvements to the existing housing stock. The workshop will look at the ways that the Green Deal could generate new business for joinery companies and what they would need to do in order to have products that are “Green Deal Ready” and how they will need to work with “Green Deal Providers” in order to take advantage of these opportunities.
For session two the technical focus is on U-values and how these are determined through a full simulation following part two of the European Standard. The workshop will show what inputs are required for this more accurate form of simulation which determines a U-value that can be used as an input for energy ratings or used directly for Building Control approvals.
The third session of the day contains a workshop that will cover CE marking in an understandable way. It will explain how CE marking is possible today on a voluntary basis under the Construction Products Directive (CPD) but will become a requirement under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) in July 2013. The presentation will run through, step-by-step, the process that joinery manufacturers will need to follow in order to make a declaration of performance and place CE marks on their products.
