A new publication outlining the opportunities for industry within the Green Deal has been published jointly by the CPA Green Deal Project Team and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes. The document provides the best guidance yet for manufacturers, distributors, main contractors, installers and providers that are interested in finding out more about how to work within the Green Deal.

Although the document is not to be used for legal compliance with Green Deal requirements it will, when used in conjunction with DECC’s official documents and procedures, provide an invaluable introduction and understanding of the opportunities available for industry when the Green Deal is introduced later this year.

New guidance document shows you howThe publication has also been welcomed by the Minister of State for Climate Change, Greg Barker, who writes, ‘I am pleased to be able to introduce the wide range of Green Deal Opportunities for Industry.  This document is in itself an example of how collaborative working can help companies prepare for the Green Deal.  It highlights how many firms are already gearing up to enter this new market, as well as showcasing previous examples of the installation of energy efficiency measures.’

The BWF have been involved with the Construction Products Association's response on the Green Deal as part of the Green Deal Shadow Group. Commenting on the publication, John Tebbit, Industry Affairs Director at the CPA  said; ‘Although it is early days within the Green Deal, which is still under consultation, the framework is now established.  This publication provides the introduction industry needs and will give companies a head start in their preparations.’

Copies of the publication are available to download here.

The Green Deal could represent a huge opportunity for the construction sector, so the BWF has been liaising with industry on behalf of the membership and providing regular updates for members as both government and industry plans for the initiative take shape.

BWF members who are interested in getting the most out of the Green Deal are reminded that we are running a workshop at Members’ Day which will look at the ways that the Green Deal could generate new business for joinery companies. The workshop will cover what you would need to do in order to have products that are “Green Deal Ready” and how you will need to work with “Green Deal Providers” in order to take advantage of these opportunities.
