HSE is consulting on the replacement of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and revisions to some Approved Codes of Practice including L114: Safe use of Woodworking Machinery
The proposals for the replacement of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 are aimed at achieving improved co-ordination, efficiency and better use of technological changes as set out in the Government's industrial strategy for construction. The consultation seeks views and any supporting evidence on a range of issues, but in particular:
– the future of the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP);
– replacement of the CDM co-ordinator role with the role of principal designer
– removal of explicit competence requirements; and
– removal of the domestic client exemption.
The consultation is open for 10 weeks and closes on 6 June 2014. Anyone wishing to take part should visit www.hse.gov.uk/consult/condocs/cd261.htm
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment (PUWER) Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP) consultation is also now live. This is a light-touch review of the PUWER ACOPs with the aim of removing time-limited material and, where appropriate, simplifying the text.
