New appointment strengthens joinery industry representation in Scotland

The BWF has appointed Gordon Nelson as chairman for Scotland.

Gordon Nelson (pictured left) is the managing director of Eurojoinery & Doors Ltd which he founded 16 years ago, and senior vice president of the BWF. He has more than 30 years’ experience in high profile management roles within the windows and doors industries and other joinery sectors. In recognition of his strong personal, professional and family commitment to Scotland, he has also just been appointed president of the Gunn clan, headquartered in Caithness.

The appointment is strategically important to the growth of the BWF in Scotland, and to ensure the joinery industry is sufficiently represented on a wide range of technical, economic and business issues over the course of this Parliament and in the run up to the Scottish Government Election in May 2016.

Gordon Nelson said:

“The new Scottish powerbase in Westminster and promises made post-referendum will ensure that Scottish devolution, which has already had significant impact on building regulations and training issues, will spread to wider areas of legislation and taxation.

“The BWF is developing a stronger voice in Scotland on such issues, which will significantly support our lobbying on many issues critical to joinery manufacturing and woodworking firms across the whole of the UK.”

The BWF has also confirmed the re-appointment of David Pattenden, managing director of Specialist Joinery (South) Ltd, as president. David is the lead member representative of the BWF setting the strategic direction for the organisation. David also leads the BWF's lobbying work and increasing engagement with the membership.
