BWF’s WITForum Training Programme launched for Autumn/Winter 2015

The woodworking industry training forum has launched its training programme for the remainder of 2015 with a number of training days covering lean, joinery spraying, health & safety awareness, and timber technology. This is in addition to the ‘on-demand’ offering available all year round.

The programme:

Timber and panel products knowledge
Tuesday 29th – Wednesday 30th September 2015 (2-day course) 10am-4pm, Bristol
Examination in November to gain Level 2 Award

Training provided by: Didac Ltd
Cost: £305+VAT member rate (BWF members registered with CITB can claim this full amount back through the WITForum’s Training Fund). £355+VAT non-member rate.

This course provides learners with knowledge of the different types of timber and timber products, how they are processed and their uses in construction. Those achieving the Award will be able to apply this knowledge to choosing appropriate products, advising others and suggesting correct applications for particular functions. Learners are then assessed via an examination held at the same venue, and receive a nationally recognised Level 2 Award upon successful completion and grading  More info…

Woodworking Safety & Health Awareness Day (SHAD)
Tuesday 13th October 2015 (half day sessions) at 9.15am or 1.30pm, Leicester
Training provided by: Didac Ltd
Cost: £75+VAT BWF members
rate (BWF members registered with CITB can claim this full amount back through the WITForum’s Training Fund). £100+VAT non members.

The SHAD event provides the knowledge needed to help companies to achieve the regulatory standards at your workplace that a HSE Inspector would expect to find during a visit to check your management of the health and safety risks. Topics include machinery, braking, wood dust, noise, MSD, and training & supervision. More info…

An Introduction to the Principles of LEAN and how they can be applied in your organisation
Tuesday 27th October 2015, 10am-1pm, Oldham
Training provided by: Quantum Profile Systems Ltd
Cost: FREE, but you must register in advance. BWF members only.

This presentation, factory tour and discussion will demonstrate how LEAN principles help to minimise waste in every process in order to add value to products and services. More info…

Joinery Spraying Techniques
November date TBC, 10am-4pm, Bristol
Training provided by: Didac Ltd
Cost: TBC (BWF members registered with CITB can claim this full amount back through the WITForum’s Training Fund).

This practical short course is aimed at those that will be moving into, or with some limited skills in the spraying on joinery products, with a focus on windows and doors. It will cover priming as well as the fully finishing of products, including best practice techniques and health & safety requirements. To regsiter your interest, contact Dave Campbell.
