Why did you choose a career in woodworking and joinery?

It’s one of the best trades because it’s not just the same thing every day – there’s variety in the work and pieces you’re creating – from bespoke doors and windows to work on sites.

What is your proudest achievement to date?

Learning how to change the cutters in the Stegherr (a machine in our workshop) and importantly, not forgetting how to change them!

Why do you think an apprenticeship is a positive first step into the sector?

It’s a good opportunity to get involved in the work, do the work and see if you like it. You get to learn more about the industry and your options for future jobs, which can mean a career for life in a well-established family run business.

What advice would you give others thinking about a career in woodworking and joinery?

There are a lot of different paths you can take in woodworking, and if you don’t like one thing you can always try something else in woodworking and joinery manufacture.

Why choose wooden windows? Sustainability

The level of security provided by a window or door will depend upon the design, quality of manufacture, the hardware specified and the type of glazing used. Security is designed into members products as standard and are tested to PAS 24.
