Three Things Keeping Architects Awake at Night – Rob Charlton, Space Group
The role of the architect is changing faster than at any point in modern practice. Regulatory reform, new responsibilities, and global challenges are reshaping the profession — redefining risk, accountability, and the future purpose of design.
In this talk, Rob explores three issues currently keeping architects awake at night. Drawing on experience across education, housing, retail and public sector projects, he reflects on how the profession is responding to unprecedented change and what this means for the future of practice.
The talk examines how architects are navigating increasing responsibility, evolving professional duties and the growing expectation to address global challenges through design. It considers the commercial realities of practice, the cultural shift within the industry and the opportunities emerging for those willing to adapt.
