Course Purpose/Scope
This level 2 qualification develops learners and evidences the skills necessary for solid surface fabrication for the manufacture and finishing of composite worktops.
This qualification is assessed through on-site assessment (OSAT) by experienced and qualified staff involved in this field.
The scope of this qualification includes assessing competence against the following NVQ units:
Mandatory Units
- Comply with health, safety and environmental requirements in the workplace
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Work effectively in a team
- Measure and mark out materials
- Set up and operate power tools and hand tools
- Finish composite worktops
- Seam solid surfaces
- Create edge build ups in solid surfaces
Optional Units (you will choose a maximum of 2 units depending on the types of jobs you regularly do)
- Develop customer relationships
- Apply adhesives to components
- Complete standard cut-outs in work surfaces
- Finish composite worktops
- Position components and apply cramps
- Prepare and assemble components to specification
- Use and maintain jigs and templates
- Repair solid surfaces
- Thermoform solid surfaces
- Prepare location for installation
- Re-instate locations after installation
- Create edge build up in solid surfaces
