Approved Mileage Allowances and Landfill tax hike

'Approved Mileage Allowances' are the tax-free payments that can be made to an employee who uses their own car for business. They go up on 6 April 2011 from 40p to 45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles.

They remain at 25p per mile thereafter.

Landfill Tax will go up by £8 a tonne to £64 a tonne from 1 April 2012. The less polluting rate remains at £2.50 until at least 31 March 2013.
