The Joinery State of Trade Survey Q4 2013 has now been launched and it is crucial for us to have a robust evidence base about recent trends within our sector that you, the BWF membership can access, and that we can present to government. Simply put, this is essential information. The survey results from the last quarter gave us vital knowledge, indicating that the joinery sector had experienced a significant increase in sales volumes after two disappointing quarters, and was optimistic about a further increase in demand.

The survey is simple and should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. Please invest this small amount of time in helping us to better support and represent your business and the wider woodworking sector. BWF members can log in below this article and complete the survey.

We are working in conjunction with the CPA on this initiative and our figures will be integrated and compared to the broader market.  All data supplied is confidential. The deadline is the 27th January, but it would be great if you could complete now (or forward to on to an appropriate colleague).

In addition to viewing previous Joinery State of Trade surveys, as a benefit of BWF's membership of the CPA, members are also able to log in and access the latest construction industry forecasts. Key points from the Winter 2013-14 forecast include:

• Construction output to grow 3.4% in 2014 and 5.2% in 2015
• Private housing starts to rise 16.0% in 2014 and 10.0% in 2015
• Commercial offices output to rise 7.0% in 2014 and 10.0% in 2015
• Infrastructure output to grow 39.7% by 2017
• Public sector construction to remain flat until 2015
