The BWF has launched a free-to-members guide to the Green Deal. The publication provides a brief overview of the forthcoming initiative, and gives information about what providers, installers and joinery product manufacturers need to do to get involved with the Green Deal.
The 13-page guide gives answers to many of the frequently asked questions on the Green Deal, including
‘How does the Green Deal's ‘Golden Rule' work’?’
‘What measures can the property owner take?’
‘What is the time scale for the Green Deal?’
‘What product requirements and standards would have to be met?’
BWF Policy Executive Matt Mahony said;
“There a lot of conflicting information circulating about the Green Deal, so we’ve tried to provide a suitable starting point for members who are interested in using the Green Deal to sell their products and services.”
Although it is a government initiative, if the Green Deal is to take off, it will be driven by market forces. Joinery businesses wanting to benefit from the Green Deal should already be looking to get involved with Green Deal Providers. The providers carry the responsibility for delivering savings to the customer and will be recommending the packages of measures and costs which will meet the Golden Rule.”
As the government’s major initiative to improve the thermal performance of the UK’s existing housing and non-residential properties, the Green Deal could represent a huge opportunity for the construction sector. In addition to providing advice and guidance through our news alerts, over the helpline and in documents such as this, the BWF has been working closely with leading industry groups and government to influence the Green Deal.
