BWF Strengthened By National Specialist Contractors Council MembershipThe BWF has joined the National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC), in a move that will strengthen the BWF and the voice of BWF members across the UK.

NSCC brings together 32 specialist trade organisations representing businesses engaged in the planning, design, construction, refurbishment, and maintenance of the built environment in both the commercial and domestic sectors.

But how will the NSCC benefit you as a BWF member? In addition to bolstering the BWF’s business support helplines, the NSCC runs four priority campaigns that are aimed at helping specialist companies survive and grow their businesses:

Fair Payment Campaign

NSCC has launched the Fair Payment Campaign to improve payment practices in the construction industry.

The campaign, which has backing at the highest level, calls for proper and timely payment throughout the supply chain to improve the quality and delivery of construction projects.

Thanks to the campaign, fair payment is now a contractual requirement on central Government contracts in England and Scotland, and it is starting to have a real impact on private sector contracts. Visit the Fair Payment Campaign Website at www.fairpaymentcampaign.co.uk for more information on how it can help your business.

Pre-Qualification

NSCC is committed to reducing the cost, bureaucracy and waste associated with pre-qualification to help the construction industry operate more efficiently and realise integrated project solutions. The Builder’s Profile provides a practical way for companies to exchange common pre-qualification information without completing duplicate questionnaires. For further information visit the NSCC Website where BWF members can now get a discounted annual fee of £199 + VAT when they join the Builders Profile.

Low Carbon Agenda

In order to raise awareness of the low carbon agenda amongst Specialist Contractors, NSCC is focussing on the carbon reduction targets, the key issues for the industry and how Specialist Contractors can contribute to the delivery of the targets.

Training

The future of the industry is dependent upon the training and qualification of today’s construction workers and NSCC and its members are committed to facilitating training and qualification opportunities for the specialist sector, with a focus on the employment, training and investment in apprentices.

In addition to the four priority campaigns the NSCC also provides support in enhancing your business performance, ensuring contracts are fair and equitable, managing employment and health & safety.

Suzannah Nichol MBE, Chief Executive of the NSCC said, “NSCC is delighted to welcome BWF into membership and I anticipate that the business support and representation available to installer members will help to support companies through some of the toughest economic times experienced in recent times.  With the addition of BWF as a member organisation, NSCC is looking forward to providing an even more effective lobbying voice for issues affecting the specialist sector going forward”.
