Compliance with Part Q has been a hot topic for the joinery industry since before 1st October 2015 when the Building Regulations for England introduced the requirement for security rated doors and windows to be provided for new build homes. One of the major changes was that doorsets and windows should be made to a design that has been shown by test to meet the security requirements of PAS 24:2012, although doorsets can instead be designed and manufactured in accordance with Appendix B of Approved Document Q.
BWF has provided a proposed Appendix that describes a bespoke timber doorset that would be “deemed to satisfy” Requirement Q1. Members can log in and access it here: https://bwf.org.uk/publications/windows.
