It has been confirmed that Window and External Doorset manufacturers are able to display the mandatory Declaration of Performance (DoP) for their product on their company website, subject to a number of conditions.

Manufacturers able to display their Declaration of Performance for CE Marking on their company websiteThe EC published on Friday, 21 February, 2014, the long awaited CPR Delegated Act covering the placing of DoPs on websites.  This establishes the rules manufacturers must follow when uploading their DoPs onto their company website. For a summary of these requirements and a copy of the Delegated Act please click here.

There are a number of rules that manufacturers must follow:

(a)    they shall ensure that the content of a declaration of performance is not altered after it has been made available on the website;

(b)    they shall ensure that the website where the declarations of performance drawn up for construction products have been made available is monitored and maintained so that the website and the declarations of performance are continuously available to recipients of construction products;

(c)    they shall ensure that the declaration of performance may be accessed by the recipients of construction products free of charge for a period of 10 years* after the construction product has been placed on the market;

(d)    they shall provide instructions to the recipients of construction products on how to access the website and the declarations of performance drawn up for such products available on that website.

*This may be reviewed by the European Commission

Manufacturers need to ensure that every single product, or batch of the same product, they are placing on the market is linked to a given declaration of performance by means of the unique identification code of the product-type.

Producing a DoP is one of the 5 crucial steps of CE Marking. CE marking applied to manufacturers of windows and external doorsets from 1 July 2013 and work is underway on harmonised standards for internal doorsets and fire-rated doorsets. There may also be work in the future on developing the existing standard for timber stairs into a harmonised standard.

We have provided free template DoPs for a window or external doorset that a BWF micro-enterprise or a larger joinery business could adapt and adopt in order to help them meet one of the requirements of CE marking. We can also offer assistance to members on all the other requirements of CE Marking, including labeling.
