We have received information from the UK representative on the EC Standing Committee on construction that the harmonised standard for fire-rated doorsets (EN 16034) will be cited in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on 10 July 2015.
With this citation, the following dates will be given. The beginning of the co-existence period (the date from which the CE marking of fire-rated doorsets is possible) will be 1 December 2015 with the end of the co-existence period (the date from which CE Marking of fire-rated doorsets will be compulsory) being 3 years later on 1 December 2018.
With CE Marking of Fire Doorsets on its way, BWF has helped to provide new and essential guidance on how this is to be carried out and what we know at this point.
The guidance, which you can log in and download, has been prepared by BWF Technical Director Kevin Underwood and is based on the discussions held in open forum during meetings of the UK Fire Door and Doorset Industry Group, a voluntary group made up of a cross section of operators from the industry, including manufacturers, trade associations, certification bodies, testing laboratories and consultants.
