Free Timber for Schools – Get involved
BWF member Inwood (Cymru) Limited, based in Rhyl have initiated a project in North Wales where they have been trying to persuade local joinery companies to donate free timber to schools in the area.
So far they have given timber to two schools, Denbigh High School in Denbigh and John Summers High School in Queensferry. They think they have another school lined up for next week too as they gradually clear a bit more space!
Inwood’s have a list of around 20 schools covering 4 Counties (Flintshire, Denbighshire, Conwy and Cheshire). As yet they have not found any other companies to help out but they have been trying to spread the word and recently were featured on ITV Wales

Additionally they have also got coverage on local Business supporting Community website (The BWF get a mention in this too) at

Find out what they are doing on their website about what the children at Denbigh High School make which you can see at https://www.woodworkersuk.co.uk/blog/free-wood-for-schools/denbigh-high-school/
Jon Culshaw of IInwood’s (also know as Gate Expectations) said “Since launching the free wood scheme on our website www.woodworkersuk.co.uk, he has been inundated with requests from schools, not just from North Wales but across the UK.
Would any other like to get involved? If so please let the BWF or Jon know and we will provide the necessary backup information to become involved in this worthy initiative – providing a needy resource to schools and to promote our industry to potential joinery apprentices of the future.
