The construction industry has launched Go Construct, a new three-year campaign to encourage people to consider a career in construction.
The campaign, which was developed with more than 400 construction employers, schools, colleges, local government organisations and those with a passion for constructions, aims to promote the construction industry as a successful career option and provide a single portal for accessing careers information. In the future it will also offer a careers brokerage service which will look to match suitable entrants with employers and job vacancies.
The Go Construct website contains careers advice and materials for parents, careers advisers and schools as well as a range of practical resources for employers. The information for employers includes:
• Recruiting an apprentice
• Providing work experience opportunities
• Recruiting ex-military staff
• Engaging with schools and colleges
• Engaging with the Construction Ambassadors
Go Construct, which is facilitated by CITB, is inviting employers to get involved with the development of the website and its resources. There will be industry consultations during November 2015 to develop the next phase of the campaign and, if you are not already involved in the co-design process, then you can contact the Go Construct project team.
