Technical support for contractors, architects and specifiers interested in the latest joinery trends and innovations is on offer at this week’s Timber Expo and W14 shows, both running at the NEC until 8 October.

W14 is the largest UK exhibition showcasing joinery and furniture manufacture, and Timber Expo is the only timber-based exhibition housing the whole timber supply chain under one roof.

The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) will be providing technical advice on wood product specification, with particular focus on the design, specification and performance of timber stairs, accredited domestic and common stairs and advances in certified fire-rated common stairs.

In addition, the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door Scheme will be answering questions on fire doors and the Wood Window Alliance will introduce the latest research on the life-cycle of timber windows.

The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and its schemes are at stand 7D494 at W14 and will be part of the Timber Industry Accord stand, X5, at Timber Expo.

Other highlights this week include the launch of the Timber Industry Accord manifesto (1pm on Wednesday 8 October at stand X5), and a number of CPD seminars throughout the show.

John Fletcher, consultant for the Wood Window Alliance, will present on the journey the WWA undertook to find the evidence supporting the life-cycle analysis, whole life cost and service life information for timber windows. This will be part of the Timber Toolbox Talks on Tuesday 7 October.

Kevin Underwood, BWF Technical Director, will also give a Toolbox Talk on Wednesday 8 October on the fundamentals of staircase design and installation, including the latest technical guidance from the BWF Stair Scheme.

Dave Campbell, Marketing and Training Manager at the BWF, will give his talk as part of the Timber Focus seminar programme on Wednesday 8 October. He will be presenting on how the timber industry can attract talent and grow business through developing the full potential of its people.
