BRE has now issued its draft of Version 3 of the BES 6001 Framework Standard for Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products. There will be a four week consultation, closing on 27 November, and BWF will also be attending a final workshop to discuss the revision of BES 6001v.3 on the afternoon of 5 December.

As part of the consultation on the BES 6001 standard, BWF has previously expressed its views to BRE that if the standard is to achieve the same level of credibility as material stewardship schemes such as FSC and PEFC, then it would need to see some major changes.

BWF members are urged to view the latest draft and investigate whether the standard suits their supply chains, or can adequately accommodate their size of business.

Members are invited to send any comments through to Matt Mahony (matthew.mahony@bwf.org.uk), who will be coordinating the BWF response. You can find the details and the feedback form at:  https://www.bre.co.uk/page.jsp?id=3104
