BRE is now consulting on issue 3 of the BES 6001 Framework Standard for Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products and the draft guidance associated with it. They are looking to get the final version of the standard available from March and it will be applicable from May 2014. Comments will be accepted until 5pm on 17th February.
As part of the consultation on the BES 6001 standard, BWF has been expressing the view to BRE that, if the standard is to achieve the same level of credibility as material stewardship schemes such as FSC and PEFC, then it would still need to see some major changes.
BWF members are urged to view the latest draft and investigate whether the standard suits their supply chains, or can adequately accommodate their size of business.
