BWF-CERTIFIRE and Fire Door Inspection Scheme raise urgent fire safety concerns with government

The BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door & Doorset Scheme and the UK’s new Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) have made a joint response to BIS to warn of confusion and the alarmingly low levels of awareness many businesses have of their responsibilities under the RRO.

BWF-CERTIFIRE and Fire Door Inspection Scheme raise urgent fire safety concerns with governmentThe consultation response, which also noted the crucial impact of fire doors on protecting life and property, was then followed up with a letter to the then Fire Minister Bob Neill MP and Minister for Building Regulations Andrew Stunell.

Following the recent reshuffle, the ministerial responsibilities were assumed by Brandon Lewis MP and Don Foster MP respectively, and the letter resent accordingly.

BIS had been gathering the views and experiences of working with fire safety officers and local fire & rescue authorities who visit premises to ensure compliance with the Fire Safety Order. They were also interested to find out where companies were getting advice on fire safety compliance.
