John Watson Joinery, BWF member and manufacturers of high performance timber products and door sets is set to celebrate 40 years in business this month.

Launched in 1973, the Hartlepool-based family business was established by the current owner John Watson with a mission statement to provide first class timber windows, door sets and conservatories to the domestic market, supported by June Maley.

Throughout its business life the company has maintained a 'modernise to maximise' ethos at all times, manufacturing to a variety of sectors ranging from the medical profession to student accommodation, hotels and apartments.

Organic growth from an early grass roots business in Wingate necessitated an expansion of premises to its current location on Usworth Road Industrial Estate where 50 staff are now employed. The company leadership, initially by John and now with his son Edward as a director, continues the family firm approach.

John Watson commented:

“This is a significant milestone for any company and we are proud of how we have developed both our team and product range over the past years in order to meet the demands of the commercial market”

The company continues to invest in IT and modern manufacturing equipment and is optimistic that the team can deliver the shrewd business planning, strong sales, and excellent product that should secure the future of the company for many years to come.

BWF Policy Executive Matt Mahony commented:

“40 years in business represents a highly impressive achievement, especially considering that the marketplace has seen a lot of instability over that stretch, and not just in recent years. It is a testament to the benefits of offering choice and quality to the customer and John Watson Joinery has worked hard to maintain a number of certifications to demonstrate the claims about providing a top notch product, including becoming part of the BWF-CERTIFIRE Scheme and complying with the BWF’s Code of Conduct.”
