This week DEFRA have launched a new consultation Wood Waste Landfill Restrictions in England Call for Evidence
The consultation follows The Waste Policy Review 2011, in which the Government announced the intention to consult on introducing a restriction on the landfilling of wood waste. The call for evidence invites views and information on the sustainable management of wood waste and measures to divert wood waste from landfill where this is the best environmental option.
BWF via The Timber Resources Efficiency Partnership have had a number of meetings with representatives of DEFRA on this issue and have recently arranged a tour of member facilities to demonstrate to DEFRA the good work that is going on already in our sector. The Call will close on 28th September.
BWF are currently assembling information to present a shared industry position and will very likely be emailing a more detailed questionnaire to support our response, but in the meantime it would be great if you could email your responses to the following questions to matthew.mahony@bwf.org.uk:
