The BWF is delighted to confirm details of the ConstructionSkills Grant Offer 2011 which will allow members to access significantly reduced rates for Chain of Custody Certification, Health & Safety Audits, and assistance in getting ISO 9001:2008, ISO14001 and Factory Production Control procedures in place.
The offer, which is available to 35 member companies and funded by ConstructionSkills, is aimed at helping SMEs in the joinery business achieve essential certifications and necessary audits by offering savings of around £600 on each of the listed services. After last years high level of demand for Grant Offer funding, we’ve added more services to the offer and increased the number of offers available.
The 2011 Offer will enable members to:
• Have their Health and Safety comprehensively audited for just £95 + VAT
• Get their first year of Chain of Custody certification for £995 + VAT
• Save £600 on expert assistance to get ISO9001 or ISO14001 certification, and Factory Production Control
We will also soon be launching a brand new service to help members achieve Factory Production Control (FPC). This service will also be within the scope of the grant offer and is aimed at offering members assistance in getting FPC measures in place. FPC will soon be mandatory for most BWF members as it will be required for all levels of the CE marking. The process is also considered good practice for the manufacture of construction products, being a requirement for the BWF Stair Scheme and a stepping stone to audited quality control systems such as ISO9001:2008.
Dave Campbell, Manager of the BWF’s Woodworking Industry Training Forum (WITForum) which has secured the grant, said: “After the success of the previous two grant offers, we have worked hard with ConstructionSkills to secure funding for another round of grants which will enable even more of our members to save money on an even wider range of services.”
The 2011 Grant Offer is a great opportunity for members to give themselves an advantage over their non-BWF competitors. The application process is simple – upon receiving a completed application form and payment of all initial costs (plus VAT), we will be able to proceed with the service. Application forms for the 2011 grant offer are available to download from the BWF website, and look out for further information on the launch our Factory Production Control service.
The offer will only be open to Code of Conduct compliant members for the first two weeks (up until 1st July), as an incentive to follow the industry best practice criteria that all BWF members are obliged to work towards. After that, the offer will be rolled out to include all other BWF members, providing they are within the scope of ConstructionSkills.
The deadline date for applications has been set as 23rd August 2011, however, as there are only a limited number of grants available, to be spread between the services, members are advised to apply as soon as possible.
