A glimmer of hope in the latest construction figuresAmidst the doom and gloom of a double-dip recession, a perfect storm in the construction sector, Euro-meltdown and a distinctly disappointing lack of Gold Medals at the Olympics, there is a little glimmer of hope for many BWF Members in the Construction Products Association Industry Forecasts (available to BWF Members through our membership of the CPA).  The new build private sector housing market is showing some positive movement and is anticipated to grow by 3% in terms of starts in 2012 and accelerate to 9% in 2013.  This sector is the major sector for 55% of BWF Members.

The RM&I sector for private housing is anticipated to be flat in 2012 and any tentative future growth predictions are very much linked to consumer confidence.  It is highly unlikely that the Green Deal will have any significant impact in 2012 (especially considering funding mechanisms will not be in place until 2013).

Full details from the CPA including some interesting scenario modelling are available by logging in below.
